Supporting effective child care in our community
We operate a Family Resource Center that provides a number of services for families, conduct a program, “Tots and Twos,” that is instrumental in assisting children with developing social and educational skills, operate a lending library for educational books and toys, provide a Promotora Program to reach the Hispanic community to ensure they are receiving the services they are entitled to. Thankfully Sierra Nevada Children's Services, although operating with severely reduced funding, is still able to provide services that resulted in 1,020 children benefiting directly through our financial assistance program, 1,050 visits to our resource library, a total of 2,074 direct contacts made to parents, relatives, grandparents, licensed and unlicensed in-home child care providers and staff from child care centers, 209 families attending parenting and life skills workshops, 118 children receiving individualized assessments to enhance developmental opportunities, 442 visits being conducted to enhance learning environments for children, and services delivered to 118 Latino children in 62 families. With an annual budget over $3 million, Sierra Nevada Children's Services is also a sizable contributor to our local economy. Employing 18 part- or full-time people, we are a member of the employment base of our local nonprofit community which, taken altogether ,is the third largest employer in Nevada County, behind the County itself and the hospital. “Well guess what? I got a job!!! Yes I did, as a real PA (Physician Assistant)! I will start in a couple of weeks and take my boards in 9 days. Thank you. I would really like to personally send a note to the board (if there is such a thing) to let them know that there is one more family out there who has directly benefited from the services of Sierra Nevada Children's Services. “The work they do really counted for us and truly, for us, I felt like God opened a door through Sierra Nevada Children's Services.Average Price For A Babysitter Pennsylvania - News

Cleveland Ranked Second Best City to Find Babysitter | Scene and ...
As we continue scouring the web for the hastily assembled city rankings that a) Allow you delay doing that thing you really should be doing for five more minutes and b) More accurately assess your self-worth as a person and a citizen of Cleveland, some numbers are more eye-opening than others. Especially on a hungover Wednesday morning or a slow news day.
For instance, consider the "Best City in Nation to Find a Babysitter" list from Sittercity. Yeah, drop what you're doing and read on.
Here's the methodology: "Sittercity used information including job postings on the site, average hourly cost of a sitter and the number of sitters available in each market to compile the list. Cleveland has more than 5,700 available sitters in the area who get an average hourly rate of $10.31/hour, one of the most competitive rates in the country." Good, but, um, doesn't that mean Cleveland-area babysitters also have the second lowest wages in all the country. That's, um, no good. Thankfully, $10.31 an hour goes a long way in Cleveland, widely known as one of the cheapest places in America, so that is more than enough for bath salts, or pill parties, or flash mobs, or whatever it is the kids are doing these days.
The top ten list after the jump.
