Paardenspektakel in de binnenstad van Rotterdam

Zaterdag 6 augustus a.s. staat de binnenstad van Rotterdam van 11.00 uur tot 16.00 uur in het teken van de paardensport. Diverse activiteiten dienen als kick off voor het FEI EK Dressuur (17 t/m 21 augustus '11) en het CHIO Rotterdam (24 t/m 28 augustus '11). Beide evenementen vinden plaats in het Kralingse Bos. Augustus is dit jaar dan ook Paardensportmaand in Rotterdam.

Het centrale punt tijdens deze dag is het bordes van het WTC. Op het bordes wordt er gedurende de dag voor de kinderen een westernshow gegeven door Robert Blake. Tussen de optredens door worden er door middel van quizvragen kaarten weggeven voor het FEI EK Dressuur en het CHIO Rotterdam, treedt Chico, de mascotte van het EK/CHIO, op en is er een fotoshoot. Om 12.45 uur is de officiële opening van deze dag. Hans den Oudendammer (directeur Rotterdam Topsport) zal namens Rotterdam Sportstad deze opening verrichten. De openingshandeling houden we tot dan geheim.

Paardenkunst
De gehele maand augustus staan door de binnenstad 25 beschilderde paarden. Deze kunstpaarden zijn gemaakt door verschillende bekende Rotterdamse kunstenaars zoals Jaques Tange, Willem van Hest, Bert Otto, Karin Smits, Willem Stoop, Harry van der Woerd en vele andere. Via de VVV is het mogelijk om een wandelroute te lopen langs al deze paarden. Tijdens de officiële opening reikt Hans den Oudendammer een prijs uit aan de makers van het mooiste paard.

Ponyrijden, paardenrenbaan, paarden schilderen... Maar er gebeurt nog veel meer in de binnenstad. Bij de Doelen vindt er een muzikale performance met poppenspel plaats en op het Binnenwegplein zijn er diverse activiteiten voor kinderen. Zo kunnen de kinderen daar een kleurplaat maken en genieten van een poppenkastspel.

Banjo Camp Nort h Fall Edition (BCN-FE) is a weekend-long celebration of the 5-string banjo in both old time and bluegrass styles! World-class banjoists make up the full-time and “adjunct” faculties. The camp has invited several top flight fiddlers and guitarists to teach about playing with other instruments and jamming, and to be on hand to help make those all-night jams something special.

In response to previous attendees requests, this year we are adding a Fiddle Track for both Bluegrass and Old Time, plus we will emphasize banjo and fiddle duet playing. Another area of study is singing, solo and group. The camp kicks off September 16 so now is the time to sign up if you’re planning on attending.
