First Cold Chisel song in 13 years
And now All For You will be the band's first new offering in 13 years.
"This is the last recording we made with Steve so it makes it pretty special for us," pianist Don Walker said.
Walker wrote the song in 2009 before there was even talk of a reunion but knew in the back of his mind it was a quintessential Chisel track.
"I think the story in the song is very Cold Chisel and I guess I could hear Jim (Barnes) singing it - but then Jim could sing most things," he said.
"I think he sang it perfectly as it needed to be sung; he tells the story beautifully."
Chisel will give the song away as a free download to encourage its loyal legion of fans to decide what songs should make the cut for All For You: The Best Of Cold Chisel .
Walker said he hoped the voting for the new compilation record, which begins via the band's site coldchisel.com on Monday, throws up some surprises.
