Gov. Rick Snyder to visit Mid-Michigan today
Gov. Rick Snyder will be in Mid-Michigan for a pair of town hall meetings on Reinventing Michigan on Monday.
The governor will speak and take questions and comments from residents from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Brentwood Restaurant, at 178 Park Dr. in Caro.
Sen. Mike Green and Michigan Department of Agriculture Director Keith Creagh will also attend.
At 6 p.m., Gov. Snyder and state Rep. Kevin Daley will hold a similar event at the Rich Township Hall, at 9492 Lapper Rd. in Mayville.
"Having Gov. Rick Snyder in the Thumb is a great opportunity to show him how residents are reinventing Michigan on the local level," said State Rep. Kurt Damrow (R-Port Austin). "This town hall will give residents the opportunity to share the unique benefits and challenges of the Thumb with the governor, and listen to what he has to say about the reforms we are making to revitalize our state's economy."
Both events are free and open to the public.

"The $5.7M dollars basically came through the participation of the Village of Port Austin, the DNR and Michigan Land Trust Fund, and a number of many entities that support recreation and boating endeavors," says volunteer John Pridnia.
There's a new visitor's center, a brand new parking area, a large pavilion for visitors to enjoy picnics and gatherings, and new bathroom facilities. There is also a public beach and a playground right in the park, picnic tables and grills. It's just perfect for anyone looking to go and relax and have a great time with their family. The new Veterans Waterfront Park is also BEAUTIFUL!
"The visitors center is our welcome center if you will, to vacationers and boaters," said Pridnia. "We're very proud of it and it is the main stay of what our redevelopment is about."
Port Austin is not only a hot place to visit, but Pridnia says it is also economical for Mid-Michigan residents. He says you can get there and back on a single tank of gas!
